Christmas Park 2011 at MFCC

MFCC to host special Christmas Park from Dec. 1st to 18th

The Malta Fairs and Conventions Centre (MFCC) will be hosting a Christmas Park this winter between 1 – 18 December 2011. The show will feature a 17-metre high Christmas tree as well as a Chocolate Village, Christmas Shopping Mall and spectacular lightshow. The shopping mall will be filled with an assortment of Christmas goodies, presents, and treats. And to top it all off, a unique Christmas Crib will be constructed out of eight tons of salt which comes from the Petraia Soprana, Italkali, mine, which is located near Palermo.

The 60-square metre spectacle offers an artistic recreation of the nativity scene and features terracotta-made figures which are 45 centimetres in height. There are approximately 100 different figures used to represent the traditional nativity scene characters as well as trees, plants, and animals. The realistic statues have been created by Michele Perniciaro from Caltagirone’s Bottega Ceramiche Arpe.

The Christmas Park at the MFCC will also offer a variety of traditional Christmas items and local and international food can be purchased from Christmas booths during the event. Some of the most popular recipes include mince pies, Christmas pudding, honey rings (Qaghaq tal-ghasel), Christmas cake and log, crepes, chestnuts, waffles, cookies, a variety of soups, strudels, frosted nuts, gingerbread, chocolate-covered fruits, and mulled wine.

The Christmas Mall will allow visitors to shop underneath a large, traditional Nordic-style tent. The mall will feature a host of items including seasonal goods, toys, nativity sets, jewellery, spirits, wine, hampers and an assortment of ornaments.

In all, the entire family will be able to browse around a 2,000 square-metre area that offers the finest in Christmas traditions, shopping, holiday-themed attractions, festive culinary options, and entertainment. Let us at know what you think about the 2011 Christmas Park in the comment sections.
