Malta’s International Choir Festival Expected to be Bigger than Ever

This year’s Malta International Choir Festival is set to entertain audiences across the island between Nov. 3rd and 6th of 2011. The Angelic voices of choirs from all over the globe will get together and perform in a variety of venues, such as churches, theatres, and other public areas, in Malta and Gozo. This year’s choir festival is expected to be the biggest and best ever with more than 20 international choirs and 550 singers attending.

The festival will feature several different ensembles and styles from numerous nations around the world. This will enable visitors to the event to learn all about the fantastic music that is being produced in other countries. It will also give them the chance to socialize with and meet new people while learning about their cultures, religions, and way of life. Of course, everybody will be able to sing along together and enjoy themselves immensely.’

The Malta International Choir Festival features a competitive section which is optional, as well as performances at several outdoor locations on Nov 4th and 5th. The Sacred Music competition is set to take place at Floriana’s St. Publius Parish Church and the competitive secular music event is to take place at the Catholic Institute. There will also be a Peace Ceremony in St. John’s Co-Cathedral on Nov. 4th , which will showcase performances by choirs of different denominations.

On Nov. 5th, the festival is inviting the public to Valletta’s historic Mediterranean Conference Centre for a performance which will feature the Maltese National Philharmonic Orchestra. The festival will hold its closing ceremonies on Nov. 6th as it’s the last day of the event. These will take place at the Catholic Institute and the participating choirs are to receive their certificates and awards during them.
