Tickets available for The Met Opera Live in HD 2011-2012

Season tickets are now available for the Metropolitan Opera Live in HD’s brand new season at the St. James Cavalier in Valletta, Malta. There will be 11 productions this season which runs from Oct. 15th 2011 to April 14th 2012, with six new operas as well as the final shows of Wagner’s Ring Cycle.

The new opera season kicks off with the first Met showcase of Donizetti’s Anna Bolena, which stars Anna Netrebko. This will be the first one of two new operas that Netrebko will sing this exciting season. The second one will take place in April when she stars in Manon, which is a Laurent Pelly production.

Highlights of Met Opera 2011/2012

There will be plenty of other opera highlights including:

– Exciting performances of Siegfried and Gotterdammerung, which are the last two instalments of the Ring, productions of Robert Lepage which will be conducted by James Levine.

– Entertainment in the New Year will start off with a world premiere production of The Enchanted Island, which is a pastiche of Shakespearean comedy and Baroque music.

– Des McAnuff and Michael Grandage, who are Tony Award-winning directors, will debut at the Met with their new of Faust and Don Giovanni.

– Other production include Mozart’s Don Giovanni, Glass’s Satyagraha, Handel’s Rodelinda, Gounod’s Faust, Verdi’s Ernani, and Verdi’s La Traviata.

This will be the Met: Live in HD’s sixth season and it will offer a total of 11 live opera transmissions throughout the new season. Tickets for the entire season can now be reserved and you can select your seats online. If you book now the best seats cost just €170, rather than €220. You can also reserve seats for the first six productions at a cost of €96 with the remaining five operas being available at a cost of € 80. These tickets can be booked through the St. James Cavalier box office rather than online.
